Some medical students think that clinical postgraduate enables them to find a  job easily. Other students, however, believe that experimental experience is necessary for future career sccess. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

For the past few decades, our country has witnessed a steep increase in candidates for a postgraduate degree, particularly in the field with regard to medicine. Some medical students are faced with the dilemma of choosing between the experimental posgraduate and the clinical one.

Those in favor of clinical education argue that more time should be devoted to internships in a hospital in order that they could master clinical skiils quickly and be proficient in dealing with complicated cases. When equipped with such problem-solving skills and affluent experience in clinical cases, they would be well qualified for the positions in a hospital. Additionally, rumours flew that several medical colleges increased the time for a experimental PHD, increasing it from the previous 3 years to 4 years. Consequently, there is high chance that they could easily be employed at the time when their experimental counterparts have to struggle with endless scientific experiments amid a stuffy atmosphere that is diffused with evaporable chemicals and toxic reagents.

On the other hand, some students perfer a period time of experimental education before they  become doctors. From their eyes, a good doctor should only be able to diagnose complicated diseases and give appropriate medical treatments to the patients, but also develop a set of skills related to writing scientific essays and applying for fundings for their scientific researches. Considering that residents are always fully occpied with overwhelming clinical affairs, not much free time and energy will be devoted to developing academic skills. To be a experimental postgraduate enables them to have suffcient free time to attend academic lectures, read articles, or even make a big discovery. It goes without any doubts that medical students receiving these experimental education perform much better than their clinical courterparts in writing scientific articles, which is the most disirable ablility to their future employers.

From my perspective, their interests should be placed a higher priority than their future career success when choosing the type of postgratuates. It is normal that a large number of medical students shuttle back and forth between the two kinds of postgraduate, as their choices are bound to have an impact on their future success. Instead of being employed in an ordinary hospital with a relatively low salary when clinical postgraduates finished their 3-year training in a hospital, they could, though more difficult than their experimental counterparts, apply for a domestic PHD position or in foreign countries. What they should worry about is that they are faced with a series of troublesome patients everyday. Rare time could be seem when they stay with their families, let alone enjoy extracurricular activities. Admittedly, to be a experimental postgratuate earns a high chance to develop academic skills, but it does not necessarily mean that this kind postgraduates are able to publish a number of extraordinary papers. On the contrary, they are easily susceptible to a variety of stress from their supervisors and the deadline of the graduation. However, they could have a lot of choices about their life before they become a doctor. For instance, they could enjoy outdoor activities, change their majors, find a part-time job, or even get married during the time of postgraduate education. In addition, their academic skills can be largely developed and they have a higher chance to study abroad. To sum up, each type of postgraduate has advantages and drawbacks. I would suggest their interests should be taken into consideration when they make the hard choice.
